To be really flexible and versatile in a jazz situation, it is important you be ready to play in any key. Whether you have to adjust for a vocalist or modulate a tune, you should be comfortable in any key.
This set features several well known standards, and each chorus modulates up to the next key. That lets you experience what you would in a band situation, where often a chorus is shifted up or down for effect. However, this time, each song goes through all 12 keys!
The melody is given once, in the original key, then changes are transposed. So the idea is to play the tune in the regular key, and transpose for soloing.
