P.D.Q. Bach's works were unearthed by Professor Peter Schickele, for some reason or another. This group of variations actually precede the theme that they are the variations of. And that's not the only thing that proved P.D.Q. Bach was ahead of his time; his archive notes recommend ending the piece with an arpeggio over the full length of the keyboard "as cocktail lounge pianists will someday do".
