This solo flute edition of Bach's Partita in A minor is meant to be performed with a steady rhythm, and the phrasings chosen by editor Gary Shocker are meant to draw attention away from breaths which might upset the flow of the piece.
Also included is Shocker's own composition, called the "Ghost", which is meant to be played as an optional duet partner to the performer playing the Partita. The "Ghost" part provides support and additional texture but is not meant to be emphasized over the Partita.
