This bright, cheerful piece gives the listener some interesting interplay between violin and piano. High ranges of both instruments are exploited well, and there is a mechanical component to the style. The first movement is a violin version of "Romance of Hsaio and Ch'in, the cello version of which is available on our cello page. Chen Yi's music represents the mood and sonority of traditional Chinese instruments.
