This is a flute solo piece in four sections, Moderato, Vivo, Lento, and Allegretto. The first section, to be played with animation, has a playful, lighthearted theme to start with. The second section is darker, but keeps some of the lively spirit going. Darker still is the Lento section, which shifts into a minor key and a more reflective mood. Then the Allegretto section with a very high range return to the lively spirit of before.
Overall this piece is a challenge but not supremely difficult - an intermediate flutist comfortable with high ranges can tackle this very fine piece.
