Duet for Saxophones

Here is an interesting piece by this American composer, famous for his Suite for Unaccompanied Tuba. Once again he shows his favor for low instruments - this piece is intended for two lower saxophones to best fit the character of the music. Still, rules are made to be broken; this is a fine duet piece in any range! The interplay between instruments is usually a duel an octave apart, one interesting feature is scale runs that hand off the ascending or descending scale to the duet partner. The tonalities are modern and very interesting as Dr. Hartley is known for.
