This is a sonata written just for cello and piano. In the Allegro section, a melodic theme is stated and developed extensively. The Andante section is much shorter and explores some different tonalities and rhythms. Finally, the last section is Allegretto Vivace, which is fast and features some very rapid passages.
Overall this is a challenging work for upper intermediate to advanced players. Since it's rather long, it will take a lot of study, but would be a good repertoire piece.
