Here is a full length solo piece written for bassoon (but will work also for cello). This starts off with simple "utterances" that contrast the extreme high and low before moving into more melodic lines. Still the high and low theme continues, leaving the listener thinking there are two instruments speaking to each other. It then builds to more rhythmic figures in the last sections.
