This set is a great one for students because the duets are both easy and fun to play. They also stress improvising along with the accompaniment CD, as each tune has an improvising chorus. The tunes themselves are original tunes based on standard jazz progressions. Plus there are hints and tips on how to practice to get the most out of the book.
The different books are transposed to be compatible so any two instrumentalists can play together when each uses the appropriate book for their instrument. And, for those duet situations, the CD includes a band-only section where neither duet part is used.
